Titan Jazz Band (1st Period)

The JV Jazz Band is open to all band students. All members will be required to be a member of the wind ensemble, symphonic band, or concert band. This  ensemble serves as a training class for the Titan Jazz Band and allows students the opportunity to begin on a secondary instrument for jazz band. This ensemble may perform at the FBA District and State Jazz MPA.

Titan Concert Jazz Band - "Titan CJB" (2nd Period)

The Titan Jazz Band is open to band students, by audition only. All members will be required to be a member of the wind ensemble, symphonic band, or concert band. This ensemble will have as a primary focus the preparation and performance of the finest literature for jazz band. While students will already
possess a high degree of ability, the further advancement of individual and ensemble will be paramount to the success of the student and the organization. Great emphasis is placed on individual musical responsibility, in that students are one-on-a-part. There will be out-of-school time required for rehearsals
and performances. This ensemble will perform for various community events as well as FBA District and State Jazz MPA.

Jazz Band 2019-20  (Both Titan CJB and Titan Jazz are included)

Concert Band (3rd Period)

The Concert Band is open to all students with director permission. Most freshmen will be placed in this class. This class will concentrate on developing basic playing skills such as tone production, rhythmic proficiency, intonation, and technical ability, as well as preparation and performance of fine concert band literature. This ensemble will perform on several concert programs and in concert festivals including for the FBA District Concert MPA. There will be minimal out-of-school time required for rehearsals and performances.

Symphonic Band (4th Period)

The Symphonic Band is open to all students with director permission. Most upperclassmen will be placed in this class. This class will concentrate on developing playing skills such as tone production, rhythmic proficiency, intonation, and technical ability, as well as preparation and performance of fine concert band literature. This ensemble will perform on several concert programs and in concert festivals including for the FBA District Concert MPA. There will be minimal out-of-school time required for rehearsals and performances.

Wind Ensemble (5th Period)

The Wind Ensemble is the highest level of performing concert group at Golden Gate High School. Membership to this group is by audition only and balanced instrumentation. Students within this ensemble should be dedicated to performing at the highest level. Students in this class will gain knowledge and exposure to advanced band literature as well as advanced performing  techniques. There will be regularly scheduled out-of-school time required for rehearsals and performances. This ensemble will perform for the FBA District and State Concert MPA.

2019-20 Wind Ensemble 

Color Guard (6th Period)

This group is the visual group of the band. Membership is by audition only in the spring of the school year. The Color Guard performs with the marching band in addition to participating in both group and individual competitions as a separate unit. Students in Color Guard that also play instruments must be enrolled in the appropriate band class period.

Titan Marching Band

The GGHS Marching Band is required for all students enrolled in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Color Guard. All rehearsals for the GGHS Marching Band will occur after school. The schedule is designed so students may take advantage of other after-school activities, while minimizing conflicts between them. Arriving tardy and unexcused absences will lead to consequences including: grade reduction, loss of performance privileges, and in the worst case, removal of performance privileges. The rehearsal schedule for the 2018-2019 school year will be: Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Drum Line (Percussion)

All percussionists will be placed on the drum line. Auditions take place in the Spring Semester. During the school year, they will be registered for one of the 3 concert ensemble classes.
